My Review:

Where do I start! I’m freaking out! This was unquestionably one of the best Poetry I’ve ever read! Tay Reem has a way of making her readers perceive and experience first hand, the cruelty faced by every victims of domestic violence. Tales of Woe had me bawling my eyes out and I read the whole book three times, just because I couldn’t get enough of it. Our life usually has an integral part of darkness to it and its really sad to know that many are subjected to violence. Moreover abuse inflicted upon us by our very loved ones, can be really disheartening.

“I didn’t know that I would soon
spew hate from my heart,
direct it at your soul.”

The novel comprises of three perspectives, the abused, the abuser and the witness. Every word held its own power to it by conveying and enlightening us about the cost of abuse, trauma and pain. This my most favourite read of November and thank you to Penny Sansevieri and the author for providing me with a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

“Safety is a priority,
Safety is a luxury,
Better to bask in turmoil,
In step as a member of a crowd.
There’s freedom in anonymity.”

This is a 5 star read and I would highly recommend everyone to read this thrilling poetry collection atleast once in your life.

Born in Nigeria and raised in a small town in Maryland, Tay Reem studied psychology at Morgan State University. After many years working as an analyst, she left the corporate world to pursue her dream of becoming an author instead. When she’s not thinking of her next big story, you can probably find her on a hiking trail or kickboxing at her local gym. She currently resides in Southern California where she is hard at work on her second book.
